Introduction
SleepWhale is my personal project. I have this project done for my Major Studio 2 Final (2-month-project) with Professor David Carroll at Parsons. SleepWhale was honor to demo at NYC Media Lab 2017.
SleepWhale is a biofeedback machine that helps you relieve pressure and sleep well. The machine has a pulse sensor bracelet that keeps track of your pulse and visualizes your pulse wave in the shape of a flower. The faster your heart beats the faster the flower will move. Try to slow down your breathing with our healing music. The music is related to the 7 chakras: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple. Each represents the 7 places of bodily healing.

Research
Insomnia can be caused by medical/psychiatric conditions, unhealthy lifestyle, and bad habits. In this research, I want to focus more on the psychiatric issue.

Interview Questions
1. Why do you have difficulties in falling asleep?
2. When do you feel relaxed?
3. What do you think is the best way to release stress?

Responses from the Interviews.
How might we help people to relax using biofeedback?
How might we help people to release their anxiety and sleep well?

User Characteristics and Persona

First Prototype and User Testing: code with Processing/ Arduino

First prototype testing: Processing+ Arduino+ Pulse Sensor.
Second Prototype and User Testing: functional prototype build in product

User testing with people at Parsons-- Major Major Show on May 6th.

How it works

User Feedback
I have made people to bring SleepWhale home for user testing a week. In contrast to the previous prototypes and quick test on the show, I got more specific details in the following.
